The Naval Club was founded on April 5, 1885 under the name of "Naval Circle"was born thanks to the impulse of visionary seafarers, as a center that came to meet the need for a permanent scientific-professional development, custodian of the naval traditions.

This initial activity gave rise to the Revista de Marina, a prestigious professional publication born and projected under the protection of our corporation.

Over the years and with a broader vision of the Club, this anchorage of symbolic ship, located at Valparaisohas become not only an important social and cultural centerThe new headquarters, which has housed generations of officers of our Navy, is also the repository of a valuable historical-cultural heritageThe result of acquisitions or numerous donations of great artistic and symbolic value.
Today, the Naval Club is intended to establish a common home for all its associatesThe company will provide them, together with the necessary means to do so, with a place of recreation and entertainment.

In pursuit of this purpose and in order to better organize the very rich cultural heritage obtained over the years, the following were baptized Rooms y Salons with names of heroes, events or outstanding figures of Chile's naval history.

Men and ships, spirit and matter merge together, enriching its rooms, where the moments of war and peace of our naval heritage are relived.

Owning their own home was a priority concern for the Directoryvarious possibilities were studied until the Admiral Neff reports at the meeting of the December 6thof having visited the home of the Duchess of Carswhich was only in rough construction, on the street Condell at the corner of Plaza Victoria and Callejon Huitoreferring to the French neoclassical style building of the late 19th century. XIX century designed as a private residence for the Chilean lady Teresa Edwards Mac Clurewife of Francois Marie Edmond Amédée de Pérusse des Cars, V Duc des Cars.

It is worth mentioning that this property was built on the land previously occupied by a group of old residences with balconies, typical of Valparaisoone of which was the residence of our greatest naval hero the Frigadier Captain Arturo PRAT Chacón.

Without sparing any economic effort, the Naval Circle signs deeds of sale of the real estate property dated January 1, 1917The solemn inauguration ceremony took place on May 21, 1918. Along with the process of having a definitive headquarters, the Círculo Naval, expanding its objectives, changes its name to Naval Club on April 4, 1918.

The institution then took an accelerated pace of growth, encouraging social and cultural activities, while delivering better services to its members, in a path of continuous progress to the present day.
